Is there a cost for the Saginaw Health Plan?
There is NO CHARGE TO JOIN and NO MONTHLY FEES. You may be asked to pay $5.00-$10.00 for certain services.
How do I know if I can join?
If you live in Saginaw County and are between 19-64 years old and a U.S. citizen. You don’t have any other health insurance, including Medicaid or Medicare. Your income isn’t more than $1,163 a month. (You can earn up to $1,561 if you have two people in your family, $1,959 if there are three, and $2,356 if there are four or more.)
What does the Saginaw Health Plan pay for?
DOCTOR VISITS You will pay $5.00 for each visit to your Saginaw Health Plan doctor or specialist. The person helping you join will have a list to help you find a Saginaw Health Plan doctor. There is also a list of specialists you can go to.
LAB TESTS AND X-RAYS If your doctor sends you to have x-rays done, you will pay $5.00. You pay nothing for lab tests.
PRESCRIPTIONS If your doctor orders medicine for you, you will pay $5.00 or $10.00 for each prescription.
MEDICAL SUPPLIES Saginaw Health Plan will pay for SOME medical supplies. If the supplies you need are covered, you will pay only $5.00. Find out more when you join.
What are some things that the Saginaw Health Plan DOES NOT pay for?
The Saginaw Health Plan will NOT pay for: Hospital care Ambulance fees Durable medical equipment (e.g. a wheelchair, crutches, or cane) Dental care Vision exam/glasses
Does the Saginaw Health Plan cover costs of having a baby?
The Saginaw Health Plan does not pay for hospital bills for pregnancy. Pregnant women should go to or call the Saginaw County Department of Public Health at (989) 758-3855 to see if they are eligible for health care through other programs.
