The Blood Lead Testing Program at the Saginaw County Department of Public Health (SCDPH) targets children ages 1 through 5 years of age.

Tests are usually recommended for children at ages 1 and 2 years of age. This age group is most vulnerable due to the child’s developmental stage of crawling and putting items in their mouth.

Children who attend Head Start pre-school programs need to have a lead test done yearly as part of the program’s requirements.

The Blood Lead Testing Program is free of charge and is offered through WIC Clinics located at:
