The Health Promotion & Communications Division provides community health education, resources and public information. Services include the coordination of:

  • Community Presentations
  • Health Fairs
  • Health Department tours

A resource room is open to the public with pamphlets and flyers on a variety of health-related subjects. Topics include Birth Control, STDs, Parenting, Cancer, Environmental Health, Substance Abuse, Immunizations, Heart Disease, Stroke, Diabetes and Wellness and many others. Students who need to develop a resource file on health-related topics for a class are welcome. New sources for information are continually being researched to offer the most current information available.

Media inquiries and requests for interviews will be directed to the Communications Manager at 758-3801. The Communications Manager also handles Press Releases and public relations/marketing to increase public awareness of Health Department services through media venues.

Emergency Preparedness coordinator..…………….…989.758.3804

The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is also part of this Division, and is active in coordinating and developing comprehensive bioterrorism preparedness plans and partnerships in Saginaw County, and coordinates infectious disease surveillance/reporting.

Citizen Corps: The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is also working in conjunction with the Saginaw County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division to coordinate an all-volunteer organization called “Citizen Corps”. Please check the Citizen Corps link to learn more about the Citizen Corps and for an opportunity to volunteer.
