Despite the fact that several vaccine-preventable diseases are at or near record lows, we must continue to protect ourselves and our children from the many harmful effects that these diseases have placed upon people for years. Research continues daily to ensure vaccine safety. The Saginaw County Department of Public Health (SCDPH) offers several Immunization Clinics throughout Saginaw County. Registered Nurses give complete immunization services required for childcare, school and college entry, as well as adult needs. Protection is provided against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Haemophilus influenza type b, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Meningitis, Pneumococcal disease, and Varicella (chickenpox), human papillomavirus, and rotavirus. Children who have HealthPlus, BlueCare Network, Medicaid or some Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan insurance plans are able to receive covered vaccines at no individual cost at SCDPH. You must present a picture ID and your insurance card at the time of service. Those who have no insurance coverage or limited insurance coverage (that which does not cover shots) can receive vaccines for $10.00 per injection. All others need to pay for the service or return to their primary care physician. The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program allows for free shots for children under the age of 19. To qualify for the VFC Program, one of the following must apply: - Be enrolled in Medicaid at the time of the visit
- Have no insurance coverage for ANY portion of the vaccine
- Be an Alaskan Native or an American Indian
