Health and Community Connected (HCC)

The state of Michigan recently challenged local communities to collaborate in innovative ways to reach socially vulnerable populations with the COVID-19 vaccine. Saginaw County's response -- called "Health and Community Connected (HCC)" -- was approved Monday and granted special dose allocations to be administered this month.

The Saginaw County Health Department pulled together the HCC, which includes 10 other community partners: Covenant HealthCare, Ascension St. Mary's Hospital, CMU Health, Great Lakes Bay Health Centers, SVRC Industries, STARS, Saginaw Community Foundation, Saginaw African American Pastors, NAACP Saginaw Branch, and St. Joseph Saginaw Parish.

First dose clinics for adults 50+ will be held March 13 and 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, Victorious Believers Ministries Church of God in Christ, and New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral. Second dose clinics will follow on April 10 and 17.

Churches and organizations are now actively canvassing their neighborhoods to invite adults 50+ to the clinics. STARS is providing free rides to each clinic.
